The Pentagon Case

The Department of Defense (DoD) Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) was faced with a time sensitive situation. After years of independent operations, fourteen existing groups were using fourteen different methods of tracking new assets as they arrive. The DoD had recently implemented the new Individual Unique Identifier (IUID) program, requiring all DoD assets to be marked using the new system, and Management had been given marching orders to consolidate the process. New inventory was due to arrive in a matter of weeks.
